Behind the Lens: A Day in the Life of a Camrin Films Photographer
What does a wedding day look like through our eyes? We take you behind the scenes — from pre-dawn preparation to the final dance.
A wedding day for a Camrin Films photographer begins long before the ceremony. Gear preparation starts the evening before — three camera bodies, a selection of prime and zoom lenses, flash units and modifiers, memory cards formatted and counted, batteries charged and spares packed. Equipment failure at a wedding is not an option, which is why every photographer carries full backup equipment. By the time we arrive at the venue, we are technically ready for anything.
Getting-ready coverage typically begins 2–3 hours before the ceremony. This is one of the most photographically rich parts of the day — the quiet intimacy of a bride with her closest friends and family, the subtle nervousness in the air, the final details of hair, makeup, and jewellery being arranged. We move between spaces — the bridal room, the groom's preparation — reading the emotional temperature of each environment and documenting what we find without disrupting it.
The ceremony demands total focus and constant movement. We position ourselves to anticipate key moments — the entrance, the exchange of garlands, the thali tying, the tear on a parent's cheek — while staying invisible enough that the ceremony feels natural rather than photographed. Two or three photographers work in coordinated silence, covering different angles and focal lengths simultaneously, ensuring no moment is missed from any perspective.
The couple portrait session is the one structured interlude in an otherwise fluid day. We scout the venue in advance for the best light and locations. During the session itself, we aim for a mix of direction and spontaneity — giving the couple a gentle framework and then stepping back to capture the genuine interactions that happen when they relax and forget we are there. This session typically produces the most artistically refined images of the day.
By the reception, the day is deep but the work continues. Speeches, the first dance, the parent dances, guests on the dance floor — all of it is documented with the same attention it received at the beginning of the day. We typically wrap at 10–11 pm, after which comes the part guests never see: backing up every image to three separate drives before sleeping. The next morning, the editing process begins. For Camrin Films, the wedding day does not end until your story is safely in our hands.
