The Anatomy of a Perfect Wedding Day Timeline
Great wedding photography isn't luck — it's planning. Here's how we help couples build a timeline that protects the images they'll treasure forever.
The number one enemy of great wedding photographs is time pressure. When the timeline is tight, everyone rushes — and rushed moments rarely make beautiful images. Here's how we approach timeline planning with every couple we work with.
The Golden Hour Rule
Kerala's golden hour — that magical 45-minute window after sunrise or before sunset — produces the most beautiful natural light of the day. We build every timeline around it. If your reception allows, we carve out 20 minutes for portraits during golden hour. These become the images couples print and frame.
Morning Light: Underrated and Underused
Most Kerala weddings begin in the morning, which means the early rituals — the oil bath, the mehendi, the getting-ready moments — happen in beautiful, soft morning light. We love this light. We arrive early and we work it.
How Much Time Do You Actually Need?
Here's our honest breakdown for a full-day Kerala wedding:
Getting ready (both sides): 90 minutes each Pre-ceremony portraits: 30 minutes Ceremony: variable (plan for longer than you expect) Family formals: 45 minutes (this always takes longer than people think) Couple portraits: 30–45 minutes Reception: as long as you want
The Family Formals Reality
Family formal photographs are beautiful and important. They're also the most time-consuming part of any wedding day. We recommend preparing a shot list in advance — specific combinations of family members — so we can move through them efficiently without forgetting anyone.
Buffer Time Is a Gift
Build 15-minute buffers between major blocks. Ceremonies run long. Hair touch-ups happen. Guests need to be gathered. The couples who give themselves buffer time arrive at each moment relaxed, and relaxed people photograph beautifully.
Share your timeline with us early. We'll give you honest feedback and help you protect the moments that matter.
